Madern Slavery & human trafficking Statement

Òstair Consultancy is committed to acting ethically, responsibly, and with integrity in all aspects of our business. Respect for human rights is fundamental to our values, and we are resolute in our opposition to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking.

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps taken by Òstair Consultancy to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains during the financial year ending 31 December 2024.

Our Business

Òstair Consultancy is a UK-based hospitality consultancy providing strategic, operational, and commercial advisory services to hotels, restaurants, and hospitality businesses. While we do not directly operate hospitality venues, we work closely with operators, suppliers, and partners across the sector and recognise our responsibility to influence ethical and sustainable practices through leadership, guidance, and supplier engagement.

Our Supply Chains

We maintain direct relationships with a range of suppliers, predominantly based in the UK, who provide goods and services essential to our operations and the delivery of our consultancy services. Our supply chain includes, but is not limited to:

  • Food and beverage suppliers
  • IT and technology service providers
  • Hotel operations support, including recruitment, training, maintenance, and equipment
  • Construction and building material suppliers

We seek to work with reputable suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct and lawful employment practices.

Policies and Ethical Standards

Our approach to combating modern slavery is underpinned by robust policies, including our Modern Slavery Policy and Whistleblowing Policy, which are reviewed annually. These policies reinforce our zero-tolerance approach to forced labour, human trafficking, and exploitation in any form.

We expect all suppliers and partners to comply with applicable laws and to uphold fair treatment, safe working conditions, and respect for human rights. Where suppliers fail to meet these expectations, we reserve the right to terminate relationships.

Suppler Expectations and Ethical Trading

We require suppliers to uphold ethical employment standards and to cascade these principles throughout their own supply chains. Our expectations include:

  • Employment is freely chosen, with no forced, bonded, or involuntary labour
  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
  • Safe, hygienic, and healthy working environments are provided
  • Child labour is strictly prohibited
  • Workers receive fair wages in line with national minimum wage legislation
  • Working hours comply with applicable laws and are not excessive
  • No discrimination, harassment, abuse, or victimisation is tolerated
  • Appropriate health and safety measures, including personal protective equipment, are provided at no cost to workers

Risk Assessment and Due Diligence

We carry out ongoing risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential modern slavery risks associated with our business and the wider hospitality sector. Particular attention is given to higher-risk activities such as recruitment practices, labour-intensive services, and extended supply chains.

Our due diligence processes are proportionate to our size and operations and are designed to identify, mitigate, and prevent potential risks.

Effectiveness and Monitoring

We assess the effectiveness of our approach through:

  • Regular review of supplier relationships and ethical expectations
  • Completion of Modern Slavery training by all employees
  • Monitoring and investigation of any concerns raised
  • Ongoing evaluation of sector-specific risks

To date, no instances of modern slavery or human trafficking have been identified within our business or direct supply chain.

Training and Awareness

All employees receive Modern Slavery awareness training to ensure they understand the risks, indicators, and reporting procedures associated with modern slavery and human trafficking. This training supports a culture of vigilance, responsibility, and accountability.

Reporting Concernes

We encourage openness and transparency and expect anyone who has concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking within our business or supply chain to report them. Concerns may be raised through our Whistleblowing procedures, HR support channels, or senior management, and will be treated seriously and confidentially..

Ongoing Commitment

Òstair Consultancy remains committed to continuously improving our practices, strengthening our supply chain oversight, and working collaboratively with partners to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. We will continue to review and enhance our approach to ensure ethical, responsible, and sustainable business practices.
